MOVI Standing Desk converts your existing desk into a spacious, standing desk in seconds.

The desk was designed with the customer at heart, delivering effortless motion in a single, simple touch. The desk is at home in the residential and corporate environments.

Our team worked through the full product development process which included: the refinement of the concept, user interface, electro-mechanical drive system, gearbox, motor design and vibration isolation. Our team was also key in establishing the production supply chain and setting up production quality systems.

Ergonomics and
Human Factors

With the brand driven from a position of wellness, it was important to uncover how people should move and how to encourage that during work. Users of the desk should be actively alternating between sitting and standing throughout their work day. The single touch UI and electro-mechanical drive system make this easy. The pre programming of heights allows the desk to be adapted to suit different user heights and preferences.

Blending wellness
and architecture

The desired target market was outgoing, active people with a refined and elegant style. To connect with customers, the product draws on influences from wellness and architectural products. Recognising some offices may have up to 30 desks on a floor, it was important that the design did not visually dominate. To connect with wellness, soft touch materials were introduced at key product touchpoints.

detailed engineering

Through a clean and minimalist presentation, MOVI concealed its engineering details. The development included the detail design and engineering of the user Interface, electro-mechanical drive system, gear box and motor design, vibration isolation, along with full part and component sourcing.

TESTING

In-house testing

The prototype workshop played a key role in the rapid development of MOVI. Significant testing of prototypes was conducted to test strength, speed, vibration and aesthetics. Practical destructive testing was conducted to validate the earlier theoretical and computer simulated stress and strength analysis.
