Joolca has a vision to make exploring the great outdoors more comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. Their signature Hottap product range allows users to have hot water on demand, wherever they go.

Trike has worked with Joolca since 2017, to improve their core water heater system and create a range of accessories that improve user experience, builds their brand and defends their premium market position. The Joolca range includes water heaters, pumps, tents, shower heads, faucets and even the kitchen sink.

Our team have helped Joolca through understanding user needs, detail design and engineering of their products, prototyping, testing and production support.

While developing the range of accessories Trike has built a clear and bold visual language for Joolca. This creates strong and immediate product recognition in the market (and at the campsite).

Highlighting product touch points makes it easy for customers to know how components should connect in the system.

GottaGo Modular Separating Toilet

The GottaGo has expanded Joolca’s market reach in recreational products on a global scale. 

The toilet is the culmination of a collaborative design process, extensive design research and thorough testing. This ground-breaking modular toilet enables adventurers to prolong their outdoor experiences whilst reducing their ecological footprint.

The GottaGo champions safety with its ergonomic design, featuring manageable carrying loads and well-placed handles. 

The overwhelming demand for the GottaGo, which exceeded sales expectations, underscores its success.

Co-Design Research, Uncovering need & opportunities

Embarking on toilet development was uncharted territory for Joolca. Extensive research was essential to understand market demands, functional requirements, and differentiation opportunities. 

The research approach includedcustomer-based insights created through interviews, surveys, and co-design workshops with potential users

In parallel, research streams explored peer-reviewed articles and comparative product reviews. This design research uncovered a gap in the market and created an ambitious design brief: develop a modular separating toilet that addressed existing ergonomic issues faced by users.

Supporting work & packaging

Complete package

To extend the design appeal and brand to the customer in store or as they receive their product delivery, Trike have supported Joolca in packaging and POS development.

Through this work, the key goals were to inform the customer both of the brand and product features whilst building excitement and being as environmentally friendly as possible (looking at materials and shipping constraints).
