INTRO

Patient focused
acute care bed

Stralus Healthcare has partnered with Tricycle to deliver a number of healthcare and aged care products. With the C200 series Acute Care bed project Stralus aimed to expand their range into the hospital ward care market.

Our team worked extensively through the design and engineering stages to develop a real solution that retained a focus on patient and carer experience. We worked with Stralus to ensure rigorous pre-compliance testing was completed, then supported the transfer into production.

DESIGN FORM

Understanding users
and standards

The contemporary styling of the C200 Acute Care bed range was developed to offer a calm, personable space in a busy environment, without compromising patient safety or their awareness of their surrounds.

Inspiration was drawn from other environments such as airline seating to help offer the patient a sense of privacy, calm and control.

Materials and production methods were selected based on hygiene, performance and cost effective manufacture.

Prototype Testing

Testing performance

To ensure compliance with both the required standards and the market expectation the bed was thoroughly tested. This included: inhouse pre-compliance engineering testing, external lab accredtiation testing, and review with target market clinicians and infection control experts.

ENGINEERED MOBILITY

Certified to 60601

Engineering of the bed proposed unique challenge in movement and production costs. The bed is required to operate through a large array of ergonomic positions and allow space for tethering of a large range of medical accessories. High quality blow mould side rails designed, prototyped and refined with suppliers for precision and the highest quality surface finish. The use of cost effective manufacturing techniques keeps the product cost low, whilst offering a premium finish.
