PPB Tech’s CYBERTONGUE® system is a revolutionary food testing platform. Food processors use it to analyse samples on site in minutes, instead of sending them to an external laboratory and waiting days for a result.
It allows processors to improve food quality and safety, reduce waste and increase supermarket shelf-life.
PPB Tech partnered with Tricycle in the development of the technology from early proof of concept development through to the commercial product.

An integration of science, technology

The CYBERTONGUE® system rapidly measures trace levels of critical components (analytes) in complex samples. It allows producers to make real time decisions, streamline production, reduce food waste and increase food safety.
It comprises a device, preparation station, operator interface and a portfolio of shelf-stable reagent tubes, containing biosensor proteins. These proteins can be tuned to measure almost any trace component of food and provide a result within minute.

Digital UI wireframes allowed exploration, refinement and testing of the product logic and workflow. Developing the digital UI in parallel with the product delivered an intuitive product experience for first time and frequent users.
Visual UI concepts offered an opportunity style that integrated with the new products styling and design language for a seamless system interaction.

Tricycle have worked with PPB Tech on the evolution of the CYBERTONGUE® system from proof-of-concept to production over an 8 year period.
PPB Tech performed the lead program management and developed the core product science of the CYBERTONGUE® system. Tricycle enabled PPB to bring the technology to market through test protocol refinement, design, engineering development and management of external electronics and software.
