Senior Designer - Creative

We are looking for an experienced and creative Industrial Designer or Product Design Engineer to join the Tricycle Developments design team in Creative Lead role. Bring your experience to our established and innovative product development consultancy, offering you an excellent career opportunity working in a great inner-Melbourne location.   

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working in a team based design studio environment, with a front end focus you will be responsible for delivering client projects from research phase, through conceptualisation to engineering development and production. You are passionate about design, enthusiastic and innovative, with a drive for high-quality, on-time results.

Your role will include:

  • Working in a team with the Project and Client Managers to meet project and client requirements

  • Leading the team in creative skills and thinking, including product styling, brand development, user needs, UX and UI.  

  • Sketching, concept development, refinement and presentation delivery

  • Applying your understanding of materials, production processes, colours materials and finishes

  • 3D CAD modelling and form creation

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 5+ years experience in similar or relevant roles, with consulting experience a bonus

  • A strong portfolio of past work

  • Degree qualified Product Design Engineer (PDE) or Industrial Design (ID) or like.

  • A solid understanding of the product development process, delivering projects from concept to production

  • Strong 3D CAD modelling skills (Solidworks) 

  • Proficiency with Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign / XD / Digital sketching / etc.

  • A strong understanding of design for manufacture.

  • Great communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Good time management with the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic design consulting environment.

  • An ability to autonomously work in small teams, embracing a small team culture
